Dress Code
At Seymour Dance, we have a uniform requirement! Uniform requirements allow us to achieve a professional look and environment, encourage focus, classroom etiquette and self-discipline. Students must have and wear the proper school uniform to dance class by October 1st. As of September 2022, every student will receive our signature T-shirt included in their annual registration fee!
At Seymour we like to make things easy for families! We have a variety of SD merchandise that matches our uniform requirements available in-house and encourage you to visit our SD Shop to order yours! Keep in mind any Seymour Dance merchandise is permissible as uniform! For footwear and other clothing items we recommend The Dance Box, Duckfeet, and The Dance Shop!
Recreational Program Uniform
All dancers in our Recreational Program attending are encouraged to wear comfortable, form-fitting black clothing. Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Stage, Broadway Bound, Tap, and Acro are strongly encouraged to wear a uniform of all black, form-fitting clothing which can include tank tops, T-shirts, long-sleeves, yoga pants, bike shorts etc. We also encourage you to shop locally!
We're working towards a sleek new look! All dancers in our recreational program attending Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Stage, Broadway Bound are strongly encouraged to wear a uniform of all black, form-fitting clothing (tank, T-shirt, long-sleeve, yoga pants, bike shorts) and half soles "foot undies" (slingback). Any other Seymour Dance merchandise (any colours) is also allowed. We have a T-shirt for purchase in our online shop!
Jazz/lYRICAL/broadway bound/Contemporary
Students require leggings or shorts with a bodysuit, tank top or fitted t-shirt. Hair must be worn in a ponytail or bun.
Hip Hop/Breaking
All dancers in our recreational program attending Hip Hop or Breaking are strongly encouraged to wear a uniform of all black, baggy-fitting clothing (tank, T-shirt, long-sleeve, sweat pants) and clean indoor shoes. Hair must be pulled back in a pony or off the face. Any other Seymour Dance merchandise (any colours) is also allowed. We have a T-shirt for purchase in our online shop!
Hip Hop/Breakdancing:
Students require sweat pants and a baggy T-shirt. CLEAN indoor running shoes. Students wearing shoes that have been outdoors will be asked to remove them, even if it’s just running from the car to the studio.
tap/acro
All dancers in our recreational program attending Tap or Acro are strongly encouraged to wear a uniform of all black, form-fitting clothing (tank, T-shirt, long-sleeve, yoga pants, bike shorts) and clean indoor shoes. Hair must be pulled back in a pony or off the face. Any other Seymour Dance merchandise (any colours) is also allowed. We have a T-shirt for purchase in our online shop!
Tap: Students require a bodysuit, dance shorts or jazz pants, and black tap shoes. Please purchase a reputable brand of tap shoe, such as Bloch or Capezio, if unsure please check with instructor. Long hair to be worn in a ponytail or bun.
Acro: Students require a bodysuit and dance shorts. Bare feet. Long hair to be worn in a ponytail or bun.
Ballet Program Uniform
Preschool Ballet Apparel:
Girls: Students are allowed to wear our uniform which is a pink body suit and skirt, pink leather ballet slippers. Can be purchased at the studio.
Boys: short sleeved white T-shirt and black tights or shorts. Black leather ballet slippers or cotton gym slippers. Can be purchased at Duckfeet (see below).
